Deratization limits the risks related to biological hazards for human health and animal husbandry.

Deratization involves treatments that aim at control of all kinds of rodents such as mice or rats.

Rodents constitute a serious threat for human health. Rats and mice contribute to spreading dangerous infectious diseases. Rodents also cause economic damages by contaminating and damaging food and raw materials. They also cause damage to equipment and production machines. Rodents can also cause a serious damage to electrical, IT and telecommunication installations, water and sewage systems and buildings structures as well.

Deratization treatment is performed with use of chemical of physical means. During deratization treatments inside of facilities, for rodents control, mechanical appliances such as restraining traps and clap-net traps are used most often. Outside the buildings, deratization stations in which deratization preparations of stable formulation and based on enticing substances and an active substation, usually anticoagulants i.e. warfarins, are used.

Prevention is a significant factor in process of facility protection from rodents. Any leak of the facilities, walls, door, windows, technological openings should be repaired immediately. Even minor leaks measuring from 5 mm allow small rodents to get inside the buildings.

All entrance ways to the facilities should be thoroughly closed and tightened. Sewage and drainage openings should be protected with grates.

Proper maintenance of the area surrounding the facility is also necessary. In the area surrounding the facility, grass must be cut short and bushes trimmed. Proper maintenance of greenery eliminates natural hides of rodents and limits the access to water sources in plants.

Any waste including municipal and post-production waste, particularly in food production, should be stored in tightly closed containers.
